Later Large Flowering Clematis

Late-spring/early-summer, climbing clematis provide a long season of flowers.

Later Large Flowering Clematis
As spring gives way to summer, large-flowering Clematis bloom profusely on new vines or new vines from old woody stems. These late flowers measure 2-5" across and bloom in a wide variety of colors, from the darkest purples to blues, pinks and whites. Some have speckled tones and often contrasting colors at the base of the sepals. While these Clematis flower later than those in the early-flowering categories, they flower longer, especially with deadheading or trimming. Most of the plants are easy to cut and come again throughout the summer into fall.

Not all Clematis are pruned the same way--see our EZ Pruning Guide.
